About Us
UnCONventional FANmilies is a non-profit organization run by a group of dedicated fans.
Our purpose is to run unique fan-centered events for TV fandoms with a particular focus on
LGBTQIA+ and diverse properties.
We all love conventions of all sorts, but so often the large for-profit events are stressful, exclusionarily expensive, and overwhelming. So a rag-tag group of dedicated fans came together with one goal: to bring fans back together with not only the actors from their favorite shows, but also the writers who molded our favorite characters, the artists who brought our imaginations to life, and the crew who made it all happen.
Turns out, planning a convention is pretty difficult, but we are strongly committed to making this happen no matter what — not just for the fans, but for everyone involved in the shows that we love. Cast, crew and writers have been unanimously thrilled that this is happening and genuinely cannot wait to spend the weekend with all of you!

Gabrielle Boward

President
Gabrielle currently works as a video editor and data wrangler while aspiring to eventually be a producer and writer. She’s an avid sci-fi fan and loves stories that portray found family dynamics.

Bren Coombs

Vice President
Bren is a film producer, social media marketer, and theatre props designer focused on diverse representation in media. They help manage the planning, logistics, and operations for The Waverider Reunion. When not fixing the timeline, Bren is probably on a road trip, at a museum, or in nature.

Randa Hinklin
she/her
Treasurer
Randa Hinklin, a corporate recruiter by day, pours her heart into storytelling by night. She is well-known for her engaging Avalance fanfictions, including “Coming Home,” “Gold Rush,” and “My Sister’s Keeper,” which can be found on AO3 and Amazon. Beyond her writing, Randa serves as the Human Resources representative for UnCONventional FANmilies.

Elizabeth is a Cinema Studies graduate student at New York University. She has a passion for film analysis, Arab representation in film and TV, and pop culture merchandise collecting. When not in class or working on The Waverider Reunion, Elizabeth can be found doing puzzles, obsessing over Zari Tarazi, and ogling other people’s dogs at the park.

Dani is a pop culture enthusiast and collector. For UnCONventional FANmilies, she oversees our social media accounts and is responsible for content creation and responding to inquiries. In her free time, Dani enjoys reading/watching comic-related media, playing video games, and searching for additions to her pop culture collection.

Abbey is a filmmaker, photographer, and writer passionate about the sci-fi & fantasy genres, and creating and uplifting queer stories. She helps oversee the website, digital communications, and other visual needs for UnCONventional FANmilies. When not flying through history and solving mysteries, Abbey can be found reading comics, cosplaying, and cuddling with her cat.
